A Dream Come True

Okay, my title might be a little dramatic :), but Brett and I have watched the new Dunkin Doughnuts be built on Metcalf every morning on the way to his school for the last 2 months. Sometimes he starts talking about it from the time we drop Brady off - wondering what they are going to be doing that day. Well, it officially opened on Monday I believe. And it's been crazy BUSY.

Last night Ed brought up taking Brett this morning on the way to school to make his birthday morning special - a great idea! As soon as we passed Ed's office, he started talking about the doughnut shop (we never told him about going) and when I said we were going to go, he got silent. When I pulled into the parking lot, he asked what we were doing. He couldn't believe we were going to go in! Aw, it's the little things - such a cool part about being a mom (parent :). The lady that served us said it was her birthday too and gave him a free doughnut. What are the chances?!

Let the Celebration Begin!

He's growing up way too fast, but he's so darn excited to be turning 4 that we can't wait to celebrate.

He got to open his presents from us this morning - a Star Wars play-doh toy/play-doh, two little race cars (doors open so they are super cool :), shirt and a ride on Thomas the Train (June 6th).





At 4 years old:

• you love fruit and candy - immediately after finishing any meal you say you made a "happy plate" and want candy
• you ask me before you go to sleep for naps/bedtime, if it's a "big nap" or a "little nap"
• if you're upset you ask "Do I look mad or happy" and when we say "happy" you growl back "No, I'm mad!" or say "You're not my best friend!"
• you have a contagious laugh (usually when you and Brady are getting along and playing, which is wonderful but rare :)
• you love to swing and play in the sandbox
• you love to read stories over and over again so you can memorize a little part of it and say it each time

Bridal Shower

Dedra and I hosted Amy's bridal shower at my parent's house Saturday morning. Dedra's mom was also a huge help - making yummy egg casserole and slush punch! And to my mom - thanks so much for letting us celebrate at your (CLEAN) house - it worked out great! Unfortunately it was a very rainy morning, but the mood was not dampened.

Dedra found the directions for the tissue flowers here - so easy and pretty!

And the food - yum! Egg casserole, sausage roll-ups, grapes/cheese/cracker plate, heart jigglers, cheesecake brownies, Strawberry marshallow/strawberry kabobs and punch/coffee. (writing this is making me hungry!)

Little britches thoroughly enjoyed the kabobs. . .

Amy got lots of great presents (and advice :)

Dedra went above and beyond and made favors for everyone - flower pins with chocolates. She is a pro at these! The green one pictured here was my favorite.

It is very exciting to see one of my friends getting married and one of them having baby #3!!

Something to think about. . . .

I followed Meg's mission trip to Africa and through her blog found this post. I find these trips so inspirational and thought provoking and wonder if I would ever have the strength to go to Africa. I like to think that I would someday.

Spring Program

The BJF Kindergarten music program was this morning. They did a great job! They had a lot of actions and sign language to learn.





Each class did one song by themselves. Brady's class has been learning about farm animals so they separated into groups and had farm animal rhymes.

Brady was 1 of 3 ROCKIN roosters :)

Singing in the Rain

Brett's class held their spring program "Singing in the Rain" yesterday morning. He was super excited about it and was beaming throughout - he did such a good job. We are proud parents!

May Birthdays

We have 3 May birthdays within our immediate family (I'm writing this on Ed's bday - happy birthday!) and our nephews, Garrett and Jaxon, also celebrate this month! In addition to celebrating Amy's upcoming wedding with a shower and bachelorette party and baseball/tball in full swing, it's an understatement to say our weekends are BOOKED!

So we took advantage of May 1st and celebrated May birthdays with Ed's mom/Randy, grandparents and brother's family. It was a beautiful day outside and we had a good time.



Brett was excited for everyone to sing to him. For all he knows, that WAS his birthday celebration. Oh, the celebrations have just begun.



He spent A LOT of time arranging this blanket and covering up. . . . .
