Mom, look at me!

I was tempted to title this post something like "unimportant or meaningless things learned this summer" but I couldn't do it, because to the boys these were VERY important things they learned to do this summer. And it's been really fun for us to watch.

Brett figured out to blow bubbles at one of Brady's 8 am baseball games this summer. He was SO excited that he was screaming with delight and I had to say, "You know what he just learned to do, right?" to the other parents so they would understand. It was so fun to see him excited and I knew it was especially exciting for him because his brother hasn't accomplished it yet.

And just this weekend, Brett started asking me to "push him down" so he could reach the bottom of the pool and do a headstand. After completing his headstand, he started naturally flipping over. And then, out of nowhere, he went against the pool side and started doing back flips by himself. I'm still scratching my head on this one, because I haven't seen another kid doing this at the pool this summer (that they would have watched) and we hadn't shown him.

Anyway, when he showed Brady that he could this, Brady decided he could do this without the side of the pool and then they both started doing them. They were so proud.

Don't Judge

Brett can't wait for it to cool off so we can have a fire in the firepit and loves picking up sticks to add to the pile. Clothes are optional.

Swim Party

Brett's baseball team, the Blue Whales, celebrated the end of their season tonight with a swim/pizza party and handed out trophies. One of the boys' dad's lives by Black Swan Lake in Shawnee and invited everyone to their pool/lake swimming area - it was fun!!

In addition to their trophies, the coach gave them a baseball with everyone's name on it. A big hit! (pun intended :)

They didn't want to leave and Brady's last words to me tonight were that he wish he was still out there swimming in the lake. What more could you want as a kid - pizza, jigglers, cupcakes, pop and a pool and lake with diving boards and a big dock to swim out too with all of your friends?!

Fun in the Sun

Last weekend we headed to Lebo after Brady's (8 am) baseball game. It was about time to catch up with Dedra and the boys (we met them at the pool - see first pic in post before this). Brady loved going to the bottom of the pool with Owen in the deep end and Brett and Miles had fun on the slide. I also got to hang out in the baby pool with Graham - he is so cute and seems to have such a laid-back personality! Dedra and I wondered where all of the kids were on a 100 degree day?? Brady clotheslined himself (literally!) twice on the rope between the snack area and pool. Oh brother.

We spent some time Saturday and most of Sunday at Melvern Lake with the fam. We are very lucky that my parents and brother's family both have boats so we can all go out!

Sunday afternoon my brother's family took us tubing - fun! All of the kids loved it and were immediately figuring out who they were going to go out with next when their turn was done.

We also celebrated this girl's 11th birthday (LOVE her glasses) - Happy Birthday Breckyn!

Gypsy Rose

Brenda and Randy told us about a pirate ship ride they offered at Captain Ron's - we had never been to Captain Ron's and were very interested in the boat ride. It turned out to be really fun!

The people running the boat ride were great - all decked out in pirate gear. This lady "narrated" our ride and told us our direction on the map. She also let all of the kids shoot the cannon. Brett did it twice - Brady surprisingly chose not to do it all.

All of the kids had the chance to drive the boat -

After the ride, the kids all went under the boat to find out where the treasure could be found on the beach. When we got back to the dock, the kids were led to an area where it was buried.

Fun . . .candy!

Lakehouse

We spent the 4th of July weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Jones' lakehouse and the boys were so excited. We spent a lot of time swimming and visited 2 restaurants that have beaches attached to them.

These were taken at Frankie & Louie's -

Fireworks were fun too! We still have some left . . . might wait for a New Year's celebration?!

I'll post pics of our pirate ship ride next!
