Valentine Treats

Since I'm in NY Wed-Fri of this week, I'm trying to get all of the Valentine treats made now. Brett is taking Rice Krispy treats (with conversation hearts stirred in) to Sandy's tomorrow.



And I made these heart soaps to send along with some valentine's - they smell like peaches!

Worth the Money

Right now so many magazines are going out of business or offering subscriptions so cheaply (I'm upset Country Home and Wonderscope are gone, those were two of my favorites).

I also really like Family Fun (which is offering subscriptions for just a $1 an issue) - it's definitely worth the money if you have little ones. We copied a Valentine treat idea for Brady & Brett's friends from the February issue (cars below - aren't they cute? these are the ones I made for Brett, but Brady wrote his name on all 25 of his cars! He kept saying it was boring, so he started coloring the heart around his name and decided that was better) and also made their lasagna soup recipe Sunday night (I added a little more tomatoes and pasta) - it was yummy!

Family

We had such a wonderful few days to get together and remember my grandma. And it was nice to have the kids so involved with her funeral - Brogan & Brett helped Breckyn & Brynna light the candles (Brady decided to watch from the back of the church) before the funeral and Garrett & Whitney sang grandma's favorite song during the service (and did a really great job).

Saturday morning we took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed out to my grandparent's farmland - a favorite spot to let the kids and dogs explore.

With the weather being SO nice, the kids spent most of the time outdoors playing in the barn - climbing on the hay and terrorizing (trying to catch) wild cats. The kids also walked Levi around the arena - there were plans for more action, but dad noticed he was a little lame (which could be temporary or arthritis) so we took it easy.

Levi will turn 23 this spring, which is really hard for me to believe because I started showing him when he was 3. He's always been a little "spit fire" but although I still see the same look in his eyes, he is no longer the wild child I once knew :) I am forever grateful for my parent's for keeping him after my show days were over. Seeing all of the grandkids get enjoyment out of riding him and seeing him "be that horse" has made me very proud of him.

My Grandma Rowley

My Grandma Rowley passed away last night. I am so thankful that we were able to go down and see her Saturday - we did not visit long, but long enough for us to talk about the boys digging in her candy jar (she loved candy as much as I do!) and for me to tell her I love her.

I love this picture of her. I would never have guessed it was her, so each time I look at it I try to see the grandmother I knew.



This was taken in Wichita when my grandparent's were working at Boeing. When I hung a copy of this picture in our kitchen, my grandmother's eyesight was pretty much gone, but I told her about it and she instantly said she knew which one I was referring to.

I look at this picture and remember all of the stuff my grandpa would say and my grandmother's reaction would always be a laugh with a look that said she either couldn't believe he had said it or that she didn't agree. They gave each other a hard time, but I think they both enjoyed it.



A visit from all of the great grandkids -



I have lots of special memories and will miss her greatly.

Doodle 4 Google

Ed and I love the designs made out of the Google word on their home page (I posted a bunch of them here during the Olympics).

Now they are having a contest for K-12 students to make artwork based on what they wish for the world. So cool!

Cousins

The boys and me (hey, that's a Sawyer Brown song! :) headed to Lebo Friday night after work - unfortunately Ed had a touch of the flu and stayed in KC. We went and watched Garrett play basketball, visited my grandma and watched Whitney cheer at LCL basketball.

It was a fun weekend - with lots of cousin time!

Halftime

Did anyone else have their 3D glasses on at halftime of the Superbowl?!



In case you missed it, they handed the glasses out at the front of Wal-Mart stores (at least that's where we got ours) to promote the special 3D commercial/preview of the new Monsters vs Aliens that was shown at the beginning of halftime last night.

It was fun, but it didn't seem like there were very many special 3D affects. And around the 3rd quarter, Brady got confused and started asking us when the movie was going to start so we had to explain that it wasn't out yet.

It was a very exciting game though!
